What Rico does

Rico is a Chrome extension that puts your saved email templates behind a keyboard shortcut inside Gmail. You press a key in a compose window, search your snippets, and press Enter to insert one at the cursor.

What Rico collects

Nothing. Rico has no servers, no account, no analytics and no database. Nothing you write in it, or in your email, is transmitted anywhere.

Specifically:

The “you have written this before” suggestion

Rico can notice when you send the same paragraph twice and offer to keep it as a snippet. Doing that means recognising a message you have sent before, so it is worth being exact about how:

Payments

Rico Pro is a one-time purchase handled by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe. No card details ever reach the extension — payment happens on their page, not in Rico. The extension asks ExtensionPay a single question, "has this installation paid?", and stores the yes or no locally. Once the answer is yes it stops asking, because a one-time purchase cannot expire. Your snippets are never sent as part of this.

Permissions, and why each one exists

Google Limited Use disclosure

Rico's use of information received from Google APIs and Google user interfaces adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Rico accesses the content of a Gmail compose window solely to insert the user's own saved text at the cursor and to read the recipient's name for variable substitution. It does not collect, transmit, store, or transfer message content to any server, and it does not use it for advertising, profiling, or for training any model. All processing happens locally in the browser.

This website

Everything above describes the extension. This site is a separate thing, so to be exact about it: it runs no analytics, sets no cookies, and makes no third-party requests. No tracking pixels, no advertising, no fonts or scripts pulled from anyone else's server.

Changes

If Rico ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so before that version ships, and the change will be described here rather than quietly amended.
