What Tico does

Tico is a Chrome extension for capturing tasks and reminders. You type or dictate a task, Tico works out from your wording when it is due, files it as work or personal, and reminds you at the time.

What Tico collects

Nothing. Tico has no servers, no account, no analytics and no database. Nothing you write in it is transmitted anywhere.

Specifically:

• Your tasks, their due dates, your clients and projects, and your settings are stored on your own computer using chrome.storage.local. They never leave it.
• Working out the due date, the work/personal split and the client name is done by pattern matching inside the extension. No text is sent anywhere to do it.
• Tico has no cookies, no tracking, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising.
• Tico does not read the pages you visit or your browsing history. It only ever sees text you have deliberately selected and sent to it with the right-click menu.
• Tico never sells or shares data, because it never has any to sell or share.

Dictation

Pressing the microphone uses the speech recognition built into Chrome. In most Chrome builds that transcription is performed by Google, and audio is handled under Google's privacy policy — the same as any website that offers voice input. Tico receives only the resulting text, stores it as an ordinary task on your computer, and never keeps or transmits audio. The microphone is used only while you hold a dictation session open, and Tico works completely without it if you would rather type.

Optional on-device AI

If your computer supports Chrome's built-in AI, you may switch on "AI assist" in Settings to help identify client and project names. That model runs locally inside Chrome. Nothing is uploaded, no API is called, and the feature is off unless you turn it on.

This website

Everything above describes the extension. This site is a separate thing, so to be exact about it: it runs no analytics, sets no cookies, and makes no third-party requests. No tracking pixels, no advertising, no fonts or scripts pulled from anyone else's server — the page you are reading loads only from this domain.

The one thing that is true of any website and cannot be otherwise: the site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and a host necessarily sees the IP address of whoever asks it for a page. We do not receive those logs, add anything to them, or connect them to anything. Beyond that, this site does not know who you are and has no way to find out.

The demo on the front page runs the extension's own parser inside your browser. What you type into it is never sent anywhere and never leaves the tab.

Backups

"Export" writes a file to your own computer, and nowhere else. What you do with that file afterwards is up to you.

Permissions, and why each one exists

• storage — to keep your tasks on your device between sessions.
• alarms — to wake the extension once a minute so a reminder can fire at its due time.
• notifications — to show the reminder.
• contextMenus — to add "Add to Tico" when you right-click selected text.

Tico requests no access to your browsing history, your tabs, or the content of the websites you visit, and does not declare the microphone as an extension permission. Dictation asks for the microphone the way any website does — once, and only if you press the mic button.

Children

Tico is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. If Tico ever starts transmitting anything — for example if optional cross-device sync is added later — that will be described here before it ships, and it will be optional.
